Caring for your hair extensions

Proper care for your extensions will give you longevity for the life of your hair. I recommended the following tips:

  • Do not wash your hair 24-48 hours after initial installation

  • Wash your hair with Sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner

  • Oil the mid to ends of the hair at least once a day and avoid the root area

  • Air drying your hair is fine. For tape-in’s, make sure to blow dry the tape area to ensure no moisture leaks into the tape, causing lifting.

  • Sleep in a low braid or pony tail

  • Sleep on a silk or satin pillow case

  • Only use brushes designated for hair extension care, working from the ends up.

  • Brush a few times a day to prevent tangling.

  • When swimming, coat your hair in conditioner and wear in a braid or loose, high bun

Please be aware of the following:

  • Hard water can strip natural and extension hair of color.

  • Be aware that salt water and chlorine can strip hair of color.

  • Sunblock can turn light color extensions pink or change the color.

  • I do not recommend cutting hand-tied wefts. These wefts can be layered and folded over for best result.

  • Extension hair can last six to nine months with proper care.

  • Extensions are human product. Because of this, you will experience things like color fading over time.

  • You understand that if the hair extensions are not a perfect match for your own hair, they will need to be colored/toned to match.

  • You understand that 6 to 8 week maintenance is required. A removal charge of $50.00. If you go past the 8 week mark and hair needs to be treated for matting or molding it will be an additional hourly charge.

  • You understand that all issue with extension install past three weeks of wear is considered regular maintenance and will not be covered by Studio Dovana LLC.

Tape-ins

  • Do not apply conditioner directly to tape areas.

  • Please wait 24-48 hours to wash after installation or move up.

  • Tape-ins do contain latex.

  • Do not use high alcohol products that will break down your tape.

Wefts

  • Blow dry at the top of the wefts so it doesn’t hold moisture.

  • The beads for wefts contain silicone.

Fusion

  • Do not apply curling or flat iron on keratin tips as it can causing melting.

  • Brush multiple times a day, using a loop brush, to prevent matting or tangling - this is very important while they grow out.

  • Do not use high alcohol products and shampooing too often as it will break down hair bonds.

I-link

  • You will need to air dry a little before brushing. Brushing while hair is wet can cause beads to slip.

  • Some slippage is common. It is okay to lose up to 10%

  • You will need to use a loop brush.

  • You will need to brush multiple times a day to prevent matting or tangling - this will be very important while they grow out.

**On average, we lose 100+ strands of hair daily. Removing extensions does not cause breakage. It’s simply the normal fall out that would would have occured over the course of the months you had extensions.
